Mom uses iPhone feature to track down son taken during carjacking

According to the Atlanta Officers Department, a mother utilized the Find My iPhone feature to assist police in locating her son, who had been abducted during a carjacking.

In a statement posted Wednesday on its Facebook page the police department said Jerrica Moore had pulled into a parking lot on Monday morning

and gotten out but left her car running, with the keys in the ignition and her 9-year-old inside when a man jumped into the vehicle and drove off with her boy still in the car.

Moore used the Find My app on her iPhone to retrieve her son's iPhone's GPS locations, authorities said.

"Ms. Moore was able to follow her son's iPhone via'my location' and provide authorities with real-time tracking information.

Georgia State Patrol, Fulton County PD, and the Fulton County Sheriff's Office assisted Atlanta Police in finding the car.

Based on bodycam footage obtained by Atlanta police, officers were able to find the vehicle, the perpetrator, and Moore's kid within an hour.
